The Paradise is a gritty period action drama that turns 1980s Secunderabad into a world of power, oppression and rebellion.
Directed by Srikanth Odela, the film follows Jadal, a member of the marginalised Savaari community, as he finds himself drawn into a fight against the powerful Malik family.
Nani brings striking intensity to Jadal, completely owning the character’s rugged appearance, physicality and simmering anger. His performance becomes the film’s anchor, while Sonali Kulkarni adds emotional depth as his mother, Sammakka.
Mohan Babu makes for a commanding antagonist as Shikanja Malik, with Raghav Juyal and Kayadu Lohar adding to the ensemble.
The writing gives the film a strong social core, exploring identity, dignity and resistance without losing its action-driven momentum. The screenplay is strongest when it builds the world and Jadal’s journey, though some portions feel stretched.
Odela’s direction gives the film scale, with sharp action, atmospheric visuals and a powerful background score creating a raw, immersive experience.
The Paradise may not reinvent the period-action genre, but its world-building, performances and emotional core make it an engaging watch. Nani’s transformation and Odela’s ambitious direction carry the film through its heavier moments.
