Young-adult romance is hard to get right. However, Off Campus comes surprisingly close to the emotional pull and bingeable charm that made The Summer I Turned Pretty such a cultural favourite. In fact, it lands in that same sweet spot where romance feels easy to watch and emotionally engaging, without feeling overly staged.
Set in Briar University, the story pulls you into a world of hockey players, messy friendships, late-night decisions, and relationships that never stay simple for long. On the surface, it looks like a familiar campus romance. However, what makes it work is how human it feels on screen. The characters do not act like perfect romance leads. Instead, they feel impulsive, flawed, and emotionally real, which keeps you invested.

At the centre are Garrett Graham and Hannah Wells. Together, they carry the emotional weight of the story without turning it into nonstop drama. Garrett blends confidence with emotional confusion. Meanwhile, Hannah brings a grounded, no-nonsense energy. As a result, their chemistry feels natural rather than forced. Around them, the ensemble cast adds humour, chaos, and that “college life is messy” energy that makes Briar University feel alive instead of just a backdrop.
Additionally, the show fits today’s viewing culture really well. It has that “clip-ready” romance energy, where scenes turn into edits, fan theories, and social media chatter. At the same time, it never feels like it exists only for that purpose. Because of that balance, it already draws comparisons with The Summer I Turned Pretty online.
It falls just short of a perfect score because a couple of emotional arcs move a little too quickly. Still, the chemistry and emotional pull stay strong enough that you barely notice it while watching.

Yes, if you like addictive campus romances with strong chemistry and messy emotions. In that case, the characters are easy to care about. Overall, it is light, engaging, and finishes faster than you expect.
