Created & directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, Tandav takes place in the capital city of the world’s largest democracy – Delhi. The web series is a political drama that shows the dark side of politics but it’s superficial. The series also touches on a lot of topics such as farmers’ protests, student politics, and dynasty politics.

The series kicks-off when the upcoming PM – Devki Nandan (Tigmanshu Dhulia) dies and his son Samar Pratap Singh (Saif Ali Khan) gets the opportunity to get his father’s chair. Though it is not very easy to get the chair of PM and all the political chaos begins.

Samar Pratap Singh is a dictator in the eyes of his father who just wants power in his hands. Sarah Jane Dias plays the role of Ayesha Pratap Singh who is Samar’s wife and wants her husband to get all the powers.

On the other hand, we get to see Maithili (played by Gauahar Khan) who is the PA of Anuradha Kishore (Dimple Kapadia). Maithili is a smart woman who understands the whole game of politics. Anuradha happens to be the current Prime Minister of the country.

Moreover, Sunil Grover plays the role of Gurpal who happens to be the right-hand man of Samar Pratap Singh and manages all his dirty business. We haven’t seen Sunil Grover in such roles but he has nailed it with his excellent performance.

In a parrel story, we get to watch the insights of student & university politics. Young activist Shiva played by Zeeshan Ayyub becomes a youth icon overnight and gets highlighted in the eyes of big politicians like Samar Pratap Singh.

If we consider the performances, all the actors have given their best. After all, the web series features all top-notch actors. Considering the writing part, there are loopholes in it.

The series could have been a very intense and thriller but it lacks somehow. Though, Tandav is a well-acted & well-casted web show it could have been more intellectual and well-researched.
