It Happened in Calcutta: Trailer Review

AltBalaji & Zee5 just launched the trailer of their upcoming web series called “It happened in Calcutta”. Directed by Ken Ghosh and starring a very talented set of actors like Karan Kundrra, Naghma Rizwan, Harman Singha, Pamela Bhutoria, Sunanda Wong amongst others.

The series is set in the 1960s & 70s Calcutta. It talks about love, taboos, war and political clashes. The series revolves around a girl – Kusum who is the only female student in the MBBS department of Calcutta Medical college. She meets a boy named Ronobir and falls in love with him. But some circumstances and events led to separate them.


The series has got many elements like romance, college life and the culture of Calcutta during the 70s. It also has events of the Indo-Pak war of 1971 and dealing with the cholera disease. The creators have put a lot of efforts to present the old age Calcutta of 1970s. We get to see the issues of old age India like – illegal abortion, societal pressure on women and how women survived such problems.


The series is very different from all the traditional love stories and has got many different kind of elements to it. The trailer is very catchy and seeks all your attention. The series will be releasing on 29th February and will be available on AltBalaji & Zee5.
