Hostages Season 2 Review: A Twisted Thriller

Disney+ Hotstar and Applause Entertainment are back with season 2 of “Hostages”. An Indian adaptation of an Israeli series which released on Hotstar on 31st of May’19.

Season 2 picks up exactly where Season 1 ends. Starring Ronit Bose Roy, Divya Dutta, Dino Morea, Shibani Dandekar, Shweta Basu Prasad, Shilpa Shukla, Amit Sial, Kanwaljit Singh, Dalip Tahil, Surya Sharma, Aashim Gulati, Anangsha Biswas, Mohan Kapur.

However, this time the stakes are much higher and it is full of twists and turns. With the successful kidnapping of the CM Kushwant Lal Hand (Dalip Tahil), by the gang of kidnappers led by Prithvi. The story moves forward but nothing goes according to Prithvi’s plan.

The kidnappers get stuck in a decrepit house enclosed by cops and ATS executives while they were supposed to move to Kathmandu. That’s where the bone marrow transplant between the CM & Prithvi’s wife – Saba was planned. But nothing goes according to the plan, that’s where the roller-coaster ride commences.

Ronit Bose Roy who plays the role of Prithvi. The Ex-cop who kidnapped the CM. Ronit’s performance in the web series is just astonishing. His screen presence and a profound portrayal of his character make the web series more intense. We get to see some new appearances in season 2. Divya Dutta plays the role of Ayesha Khan, a police negotiator. And Kanwaljit Singh plays the role of ATS chief – Karnail Singh.

Season 2 is a complete circus and the people involved are dangerous. There is a larger and a global conspiracy at play involving politicians and businessmen. We also get to see Dino Morea in the sequel, he plays the role of a cold-blooded killer. There is a big corporation behind the twisted plot and “Professor” is the mastermind.

There are many guest appearances and unexpected returning characters, which makes it a mind twister. The season concludes with a dramatic but unsatisfying climax.

The director – Sachin Krishn and the writers, has done a great job by making season 2 a suspense thriller with many twists and turns. Above all, Hostages S2 is a perfect web series for binge-watching.
