TVF Originals The Insiders Review: A New Type of Comedy!

TVF introduces it’s new web series, The Insiders, providing you a genre of comedy they had not really forayed into as yet – parody.

The show revolves around the lives of 4 family friends. Their fathers have been friends since they were school kids, the audience also being introduced their ‘ancient’ childhood through flashbacks and humor.

Each episode revolves around a Saturday night in the lives of these kids who credit themselves of being The Insiders, having their own board meetings, investigation, trivia and their own stories.

The first 2 episodes do not really make you understand the story, the type of comedy a new adaptation and indeed are a little bit of a drag. More so, because it’s the establishment of the premise of the show and not many punchlines would grab your attention.

Some things seem too stretched, like the overexaggeration about the jinx on the phone, the missing cake piece and the character of Monica, Aneesh’s younger sister.

However, some references are downright funny and witty, like “Crocin is the most overrated tablet ever invented. After the iPad, of course.” and “With great power.. this pen drive will crash” :p

The dialogue delivery cracks you up. Rabbi’s character played by Arnav Bhasin is the goofy kid every group is annoyed with but who is also the stress buster and a happy-go-lucky guy everyone wants to have around.

There is one dreamy yet logical Aneesh who keeps conversing with the girl from the neighbouring building. Shiv and Shravya have some cute jealous moments and these subtle teenage moments playing in the background make you miss your first love.

The most adorable character being that of Bhalla uncle (Brij Bhushan) who plays this father who tries to blend in with the teenagers and be the coolest uncle around!

All in all, Insiders is TVF’s attempt into a new genre that the audiences may not immediately appreciate but it is a step in a new direction and will slowly be appreciated among audiences!

Watch this one for some super punchlines and refreshing take at humour.
